Carpet One Floor & Home is happy to announce four new members of their member Advisory Council – Kelly McDonald, Chris Taylor, Laura Rosborough,  and Dean Kelly. Carpet One Floor & Homes twelve-member council meets periodically through the year to advise senior management and help shape the direction of programs developed by the flooring retailer cooperative.

“Our Advisory Council is essential to make sure our strategy is in line with what our members need,” says Eric Demaree, President of Carpet One Floor & Home. “We depend on them to be the voice of our membership and they are there to challenge us to provide the best service possible to our members.”

Each new advisory member was selected to represent one of four regions previously represented by retiring members Cindy Corbett, John Mazzullo, Scot Hill and Will Dukes.

“Each new advisory council members selected has a unique perspective that will bring new ideas to the group,” says Demaree.

Dean Kelly

With a single location celebrating their 25th year in business, Kelly hopes to “encourage, to learn and to share my experience – my successes and failures” to help others. Kelly started the business very humbly in an old mini-storage building with no money and no real customer base.

He currently has 26 employees and runs about 15 flooring installation crews. His business continues to grow under the Carpet One Floor & Home cooperative.

Chris Taylor
Carpet Master Carpet One Floor & Home
Latham, NY

Taylor’s business was founded in 1977 by his father and uncle, with a single location in Latham, NY. They operated as a centrally located single unit store until April of 2016, at which point they added their first branch location in Clifton Park, NY.

Taylor brings a wide range of experience from sales to operations and business management and plans to “offer insight on all topics and issues that will be faced by the council.” Taylor also brings a strong understanding of the digital marketplace, and strives to continually learn how the digital landscape is evolving.

Kelley McDonald
McDonald Carpet One Floor & Home
Boulder, CO

Soon to be taking over for her father-in-law in 2018 as owner of the business, McDonald represents the newer generation of store owners. Her store currently employees eight people and has been in business since 1976.

Previously, McDonald led her Regional Network Group (RNG) – a group supported by Carpet One Floor & Home to help members connect with other members in their vicinity – as the RNG coordinator. McDonald looks forward to “shaping future Carpet One Floor & Home decisions.”

Laura Rosborough
Carpet One Floor & Home
Mentor, OH

As a newer Carpet One Floor & Home member, Rosborough, previously a store employee, took ownership of the store in May of 2015. She hopes to share the perspective of a new member to the cooperative but also that of an experience professional in the flooring business with over 20 years working in various aspects of the business.

Rosborough is excited to “learn and grow…and bring new ideas to light.”

All new members of Carpet One’s Advisory Council will take on their official duties at the annual fall Advisory Council meeting taking place the first week of October in New Orleans, LA.
